The Role of the PTA

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is open to parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers and staff in addition to individuals from the Rockwell community.

A PTA provides a voice for the school when advocating for students, supplies, support and initiatives. All are welcome and encouraged to join the PTA, because there is strength in numbers.

The PTA serves the school and the greater community by providing events and activities geared towards families. One of our goals is to help families get to know one another by enjoying family activities and events. We strive to provide resources to students and staff while learning about and celebrating our Rockwell community.

Through fundraising we provide educational support tools such as subscriptions to age-appropriate periodicals used in the classroom to enhance instruction, field trip subsidies to reduce out of pocket costs, teacher reimbursements to help to purchase additional classroom materials, and more.

Joining the Rockwell PTA

Why should I join the PTA?

One of the easiest ways to support Rockwell is just becoming a PTA member. It involves registering your family information and donating $15.00 in membership dues. Our community voice becomes larger with each person who joins! Think of it like signing a petition to support a cause that is important to you and your family. When advocating for a worthy cause, our position is strengthened with each membership.

Also, all members have access to our Rockwell School Directory through a website and app called AtoZ Connect!

Do I have to volunteer if I join the PTA?

The short answer is no, you will not be committed to spend personal time at the school or at events. Even the most basic step of joining the PTA is helpful! Our goals include making being a member of the PTA fun and enjoyable!

What does being a member of the PTA really mean?

When you join the PTA, the membership dues ($15.00) go directly to the Rockwell students and teachers. You will be helping with field trip subsidies for all students, family events, teacher appreciation and even money to reimburse our teachers for some out-of-pocket costs! Most importantly, when you join, you are bringing your voice to support the students and teachers here at Rockwell.

Now, we are a volunteer run organization... We would always be appreciative if you could share any time, experience, or resources with us! There are many small and large ways to help volunteer ranging from cutting out box-tops to preparing a dish for an event all the way to helping lead a school event.
